Hello! Welcome to Fall! Today is officially the first day of this wonderful season! The first day of Fall usually occurs between September 21-23, depending on the autumnal equinox. An equinox, when the Sun is directly in line with the equator which divides the day and night into equal parts, only happens twice a year….once now and once in the spring. We are having the most beautiful weather, and it looks like the week ahead will be full of some beautiful days as well!

Our 1st Annual Community Plant Swap is underway! I hope you are able to bring something to share from your garden. This swap will run through Sunday, Oct. 1st. I will have a chance to dig up some things from my gardens and my mom’s gardens today or tomorrow. Fun times!

The first edition of this year’s Marietta High School newspaper The Original has arrived! I have a stack ready for the counter at Huck’s. As always, these are free, and they are a great way to get in the know about the goings on at MHS. Plus, there’s a 20% off lunch coupon for a Huck’s sandwich. Pick one up!

Here’s our outside update for this week:

We have added some more mums this week! All the mums are just starting to bloom, so if you have been waiting until then, you are in luck! One faithful customer said the mums she got from Huck’s “are really exceptionally beautiful this year.” I agree with her 100%!

I love pumpkin season! We now have white pie pumpkins, Cinderella pumpkins (these ones are green!), yellow knobby pumpkins, jumbo orange and medium orange. We will continue to add to these in the next couple of weeks! Plus, we will have plenty of carving pumpkins.

Pretty gourds are here as well! You can find tan, orange, white and green ones as well! They have all types of textures and are all types of different shapes! If you are looking for ones to stack, we have those too!

We have Indian corn small sets $2.99 and large ones for $5.99. These are a definite must to add to corn shocks, a front door, or to set against a couple of pretty pumpkins!

We have some fun things to tell you about this week inside!

The homemade soups have been a hit for the first week back! These are served every Monday-Friday. Call us to find out which soups are on or check out hucksmarket.com! I apologize about the soups on the website this week. I’m out of the habit of posting, but I’ve already set myself an alarm on my phone, so I won’t miss it again!

There are some gorgeous ORANGE Roma tomatoes at the market this week. They are absolutely beautiful and taste delightful. These are Amish grown.

Another Amish grown beauty to try are the Concord grapes. The Goellers had never actually had a real homegrown grape before! Wow! What a treat! Sydney thought they tasted like a blow pop sucker, Audrey, thought it tasted like a Sour Patch Kid, and Jim also said it tasted just like candy. Anyway, these are the prettiest, deep color of purple, and they are small and round, nothing like a commercially grown grape. They do have seeds, but they taste so good that we didn’t mind having to deal with them.

there are mild peppers, hot peppers, peaches, and little cherry tomatoes as well.

Amish sweet corn sale! $.29 each or 4 for $1.00. Supplies are not endless, so come and get it while you can!

Containers of freshly picked basil leaves are in a basket near the cash registers. Just imagine the smell of homemade spaghetti sauce with some fresh basil to add to it. It’s so fragrant!

Jim planted our vegetable garden at home late. We decided to plant anything that was left over at the market, so it wouldn’t go to waste. We are just now enjoying the bounty of homegrown tomatoes and cucumbers at home! We are so happy to have our Anderson tomatoes ripen enough to eat. Boy, are they delicious! Next year, I hope that you buy one Anderson tomato plant to add to your vegetable garden, if you haven’t tried it before. You won’t be disappointed with this, rustic, heirloom tomato! As we start to get some more, we will definitely bring them into hugs to share with all of you.

The sandwich stays nice and busy at lunch time! Don’t forget about us at dinner time either! It can be very convenient to take home deli meat of your choice, some cheese, and some kaisers or sandwich buns off the bakery shelf. Or….you could order ahead online of over the phone, and we can get your sandwiches all ready for you, so you can pick them up quickly and head to your next stop for the evening! We know how busy working families are, and a yummy Huck’s sandwich may be a nice change from some fast food or pizza!

It’s Apple Time! You can find Cortland, Gala, Honeycrisp, Ginger Gold, Fuji, Granny Smith, and Paula Red. More varieties will become available as the fall goes on!

We have local plums and Bartlett pears. They are so sweet and tasty!

Craft Sale—25% off!
