Hello, everyone! We are gearing up for a fun weekend! The weather is going to be beautiful for Saturday for those of you who are doing some Halloween festivities. Only a 3% chance of rain! How many times over the years have we gone trick-or-treating in cold, rainy weather? Or the years the Buckeyes would be playing a night game, and we would look through people’s windows to see a play or two of the game on their TVs. Ha! Those are fun memories to think about!

Here’s our weekly update for outside…..

We still have some big carving pumpkins. You will want to come soon, because they are almost gone! There are still some smaller pie pumpkins as well.

Many of you have been taking advantage of the BOGO sale on the fall mums and flowers. That sale will continue but look for those prices to get even cheaper very soon! It’s not too late to dress up or add to your already pretty Fall decorations. We still have a month until Thanksgiving, so let’s continue to enjoy the beautiful Fall that we have had!

It will be sad when everything is all gone outside, but we have some plans to liven it up outside for the holidays, so be on the look out for that!

Here is our update about the inside…..

There are still homegrown green peppers, hot peppers, cabbage, and tomatoes available! I’m sure you agree that nothing tastes as good as homegrown produce! Our time for getting homegrown veggies and fruits is dwindling, so pick some up while you still can.

Jim picked up some new varieties of apples! Yay! Some of you have been asking for these……Here are all the types that are at the market now: Winesap, McIntosh, Rome, Pink Lady, Evercrisp, Cortland, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Mutsu, Gala, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Honeycrisp, and JonaGold. If you want to try a new kind, we have a spreadsheet at the register that can tell you all about each type.

It’s here, just as we promised!! Two days ago, we got our first delivery of Zimmerview Farm’s ground beef and ground sausage. What a great option for people wanting local, farm fresh meat without having to buy a large quantity at once! It is in our freezer at this time, so you will need to ask one of us at the market to get you some.

Who is busy? I’d say all of us! Let us save you some time on your stop to get deli meats and cheeses. If you would like to call ahead, we can get your meat and cheese sliced just how you want it, and it can be ready to go when you get to Huck’s!

We have plenty of jellies, jams, pickled foods, pasta sauce, canned fruits and canned veggies on our shelves. They come from Amish Wedding and Walnut Creek. They look so pretty with all the different colors and varieties.

Have you tried our from scratch pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting yet? They are divine! We baked quite a few last evening, so you will want to come in quickly. They are a hot selling item!

It is not too early to start to order pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In fact, we just got our first orders last week! Here are all the types of pies that we offer: Apple, Apple Walnut, Dutch Apple, Cherry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Very Berry, Peach, Pecan, Strawberry Rhubarb, Pumpkin, Chocolate Cream, and Coconut Cream! One of each please!

On that note, we can also start to take orders for holiday gift baskets/boxes. We have 5 different price points with some different options. We can even ship them out for you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if this is something you are interested in. We can even custom make baskets. We can do these for businesses or individuals. Look below for a picture of our gift basket/box flyer in our Facebook pictures for this week.

Our soups continue to be a very popular part of our sandwich shop. We just added Smoky Poblano Cheese to our rotation, and we serve it with some Tortilla Chips. If that sounds good to you, you will have to try it! Yum!

Our gift area is full! Turn one way, and you can get Fall decorations. Turn the other, and you can start your Christmas shopping. There are candles with all types of sizes and scents. We also have potpourri and tarts to warm up. We found the prettiest floating candle set for Christmas. You put it in a pretty bowl with water. It has greenery and red berries and a green, red, or white star shaped candle that you can light. Above the produce, we have dedicated a whole shelf to The Ohio State Buckeyes! We were raised to be big Buckeye fans, so we had to have a section for that!

I took a picture of an old fashioned courting candle holder that I added to the gift shop area. It has a neat little story, so I thought I would share it with you. In the 1600-1800s, when a gentleman came to court a young woman, the father would use the courting candle as a timer for when the young man needed to leave. If the father liked the young man, he would raise the candle up to a higher ring, giving them more time together. But if the father did not like the suitor, he would lower the candle to one of the bottom rings, so the young man had less time before he had to leave. I have always loved old-fashioned things. My favorite book series of all time is still Little House on the Prairie, and that was always my favorite TV show as well.

Events Coming Up:

November 18th from 7:00-9:00 p.m.: Thanksgiving Pumpkin Centerpiece Class Spots are filling up for this enjoyable evening! We have 12 ladies signed up so far and can have up to 4 more! I am looking forward to a fun night out while getting to make something pretty for my family for Thanksgiving. Merilee Burton is teaching us, so we will be able to do it on our own for next Thanksgiving or other occasions! Don’t miss out if this is something you would be interested in doing! Please sign up by Friday, November 11th, so Merilee has enough time to get us all our supplies.

December 10th from 11:00-4:00 p.m.: Kids Fun Day! We will have lots of different types of activities for kids to come and do outside under our patio and greenhouse space. We will have hot chocolate, a craft or two, goodies, picture opportunities, and some fun visitors. Some activities will be free, and you won’t have to sign up early or do everything. I know as a mom, I always enjoy something fun I can do with the kids on the weekend. This will be nice, because you can come when you want and spend as much or as little time as you want as well. It should be a good outing to enjoy the holiday season with your family!

Deli Specials for the Week:
