Hello, everyone! I am sure that you are like me and can’t believe that it’s already November! This is one of my very favorite months for a lot of different reasons. There are so many things to be thankful for. I could list a million things, but I won’t bore you with that! But I know I speak for Jim and I both that we feel very grateful for the opportunity to purchase Huck’s, and we are very thankful for our wonderful employees and customers. I know it hasn’t been without its hiccups, but we’ve had about as easy of a transition as I think it could be. Mike and Susan have been so helpful too.

I also want to say Happy Veteran’s Day to all of the individuals who have served in the armed services. We have great respect for all of you, and we appreciate the sacrifice that you and your family made to help protect our freedom and our country. Don’t you just love America? There are many places in the world that don’t get to enjoy the freedoms and rights that we do. Which reminds me…..Tuesday is Election Day!

Also, tonight we get an extra hour of sleep!! Yay! Except after that, every night for who knows how long, we will all want to go to bed too early, because it will be so dark. Lol. That could possibly change though. This past March, the Senate passed a bill to end Daylight Saving Time. The bill has stalled in the House of Representatives though. They say if it doesn’t get passed before the end of the year, the Senate would have to bring it up as a bill again next year. Who knows?

Here’s our outside update………………

SALE!! SALE!! SALE!! SALE!!

12″ mums and hanging baskets are now $5.00! All other flowers are $1.00 each! Can’t beat that!

Come see our inflatable Thanksgiving turkey! He will get you in the mood for Turkey Day and maybe a turkey sub or some sliced turkey at the deli!

Here’s our weekly update for the inside…..

We have apples galore! Here’s a list of all the types we have: Winesap, McIntosh, Rome, Pink Lady, Evercrisp, Cortland, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Mutsu, Gala, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Honeycrisp, and JonaGold. If you haven’t seen the Mutsu apples, they are gigantic. They are similar in taste to a Golden Delicious. We have 5 of the 6 apples that the Bon Appetit website says are the best for apples for baking. Their picks are JonaGold, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, Mutsu, Pink Lady, and Winesap. Hmmmm…..looks like I need to try some new baking recipes.

We still have homegrown green peppers, hot peppers, cabbage, tomatoes, and potatoes in stock. We have sold quite a bit of Kennebec potatoes, but we still have plenty. We also have all the produce that you would want at the grocery store with very comparable or even more reasonable prices.

You all have started taking advantage of the Zimmerview Farm Meats and Market ground beef and ground sausage. You can buy some at Huck’s for $6.50 lb. for the ground beef and $6.00 lb. for the ground sausage. Both are delicious, and you can sure taste the difference! You won’t be disappointed!

The bakery always keeps Huck’s smelling yummy. Whether it’s Sunflower Bread, Sub Sandwich Buns, Cinnamon Rolls, or Cookies, there is always a nice variety to choose from!

The sub shop has lots of choices for sandwiches, salads, and soups. We can make you up something for lunch, dinner, or sometime in between. There are lots of deli salads (macaroni, potato, German potato, mac and cheese, ham salad, chicken salad, Orange Pineapple Delight, and Cookies and Cream) as well.

We will have from scratch brownies out starting today! They are fudgy and so good! They are already cut and packaged into individual portions, but we won’t mind (or judge) if you buy more than one! You could even order an entire pan if you would like.

We are now taking orders for holiday pies: Apple, Apple Walnut, Dutch Apple, Apple Cinnamon, Cherry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Very Berry, Peach, Pecan, Strawberry Rhubarb, Pumpkin, Chocolate Cream, and Coconut Cream.

If you haven’t tried the milk from Florence Creamery, please do! It’s a cream topped milk, so when you buy some, you will want to shake it up before you use it. If you want to skim that cream off to use in your coffee, cooking, or baking, you can do that too. They also offer different flavors of milk. I have a friend who loves the Strawberry, and one of my sons loves the Birthday Cake. We just got in Pumpkin Pie, and it has gotten rave reviews so far! If you have a specific flavor you want us to order or hold back for you, just ask!

Each week, we are continuing to add items to get the store filled up. We are really trying our best to make Huck’s a place that you can come and do a good portion of your weekly grocery shopping. We appreciate the suggestions you have given so far for items you would like to see at the market, so please keep them coming!
