Hi, everyone! I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful fall weather! I was checking the Fall Foliage Map for 2023, and it looks like the next week or two is going to be the peak time for the beautiful leaves. Which color is your favorite? I love maples! My two favorites are the bright orange and the red.

Last Thursday was Farmer Appreciation Day! Each American farm produces enough food to feed 165 people. There were 7 million farms in the U.S. in 1935 and now there are 2.2 million. Commercial egg farmers produce 165 billion eggs per year! It takes 150 yards of wool to make enough stuffing for a baseball. The average dairy cow produces over 6 gallons of milk a day which calculates to 46,000 glasses of milk per year! (stacker.com) Thank you, farmers! We love and appreciate you all!

Here’s the update for outside!

Although there aren’t many mums, we will continue to keep stocked up on pumpkins! Look for another shipment to come mid week!

We finally got some bales of straw! They are $9.99 each!

Halloween Fun Day for Kids on October 27th from 2:00-5:00 p.m.! Looking for something fun to do on Trick-or-Treat during the afternoon? Huck’s will be hosting some fun activities on the side porch! Lots of times the kids are so excited for trick-or-treat, and they get bored in the afternoon waiting…..and parents don’t know what to do with them. We will have lots of different stations and activities for the kids to do. Here’s our plan so far: friendship bracelets, coloring contest, mini pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, Halloween slime (Audrey said this is a must!), a couple of fun games, and a craft (I haven’t decided on this quite yet!) Activities will be for kids Preschool-6th grade. Also, you don’t have to stay the whole time!

Here’s our weekly update inside the market….

Soup’s on! Here’s our weekly menu:

Monday: Chicken Noodle, Chili

Tuesday: Vegetable beef, Creamy Potato

Wednesday: Stuffed Pepper, Chicken with Wild Rice

Thursday: Chicken Noodle, Sausage Tortellini

Friday: Cheesy Broccoli, Clam Chowder

I’m leaving first thing this morning to get us some adorable crafts and decorations for the Christmas season. This is one of my favorite things to do for Huck’s! I get a chance to just look at pretty things and relax. Believe it or not, there are only 73 days until Christmas, and I noticed that some stores already have out Christmas things! Sydney got a couple of Christmas Toy magazines in the mail this week, and she’s already been writing letters to our elf on a shelf to give to Santa. So, I guess even if we aren’t ready to start thinking about Christmas, it will be here before we know it! I hope you will come in and check what we have soon! Everything will be out by the start of the week!

Duck Creek Candle Co. has informed me that they will have some cozy, homey holiday scents November 1st. Until then, enjoy flavors like Pumpkin Crunch and Blueberry Crumble. They smell so good!

Sage and Co. has come and restocked their delicious line of rubs and seasonings. Stop in and pick up one or two for the next time you make meat or veggies for dinner. They have Farmer’s Favorite Veggie Seasoning, Cowboy Caviar, Garlic Herb and Cheese Popcorn Seasoning, Appalachian Fish and Seafood Seasoning, and Sweet and Smoky BBQ Rub. They really are tasty!

We are excited to announce that the flavored popcorns from Haney’s Popcorn has arrived! We have flavors like Jalapeño,

If you like spicy foods, Blue Heat has added another seasoning to Huck’s. Not only do we have Devil’s Dust, you can also get Carolina Reaper. You can use these two seasonings on just about anything you want!

Since it is going to be a great time to go take a drive to look at the fall leaves, stop in and grab a salad or sandwich and some cookies and chips and have a little picnic. Maybe you could drive out Route 26 to the covered bridge out at Rinard Mills. My paternal grandmother, Mary Rinard, grew up in Rinard Mills, and it’s a beautiful part of Monroe County!

Cornerstone Homestead has brought in some delicious new meats for our freezer. Check out their local, farm raised ground chicken, apple maple breakfast links, and chicken kielbasa. Not only are you going to get a high quality product, but you are also helping to support two local businesses!

Coming soon!! Delicious ice cream floats! We are going to use our fizzy Kutztown Old Fashioned Sodas poured over our smooth Velvet Original Vanilla ice cream! You will be able to choose from Root Beer, Orange Cream, Red Cream, Ginger Beer, and Sasparilla! Oh, my! Doesn’t that sound heavenly?!

Huck’s can do all sorts of custom made meat, cheese, veggie, fruit, cookie, and sandwich trays.
