Happy Easter weekend to you all!  We are so thankful to serve a Risen Savior!  This is a fun-filled weekend with baseball games, Easter baskets, Easter egg hunts, holiday dinners and get-togethers, but my very favorite part is thinking about the cross and what it means!  AMEN!

April Fool’s Day is on Monday.  Some think April Fool’s Day comes from France in the 1500s when some Frenchmen didn’t realize the yearly Julian calendar was changed to the Gregorian calendar, so they still celebrated the New Year on April 1st instead of January 1st.  They were called “April Fools.”  Some notable pranks include Swiss farmers harvesting spaghetti noodles from trees (1957), Sports Illustrated writing about a fake rookie pitcher who could throw a 168 mph fastball (1985), Taco Bell saying it was buying the Liberty Bell and naming it the Taco Liberty Bell(1996), and Burger King fooling people into ordering a “left-handed whopper” (1998). (history.com)  I know the Goellers are in for a real day of fun, because when you’re 8 years old like Sydney, April Fool’s Day is one of the best days of the entire year! LOL.

If you see Jim on Thursday, please wish him a Happy Birthday!  He’s turning 45 years old.  He’s the best person I know!

Here’s the update for downtown….

We have started offering fresh baked danishes!  We have three different varieties to choose from: Strawberry and Cream Cheese, Cherry and Greek Yogurt, and Raspberry Chocolate.  If you would like it to be warmed up, just ask!  These are also now at the main market as well!  Yum!

Have you tried one of our salads?  They are fresh and custom made with whatever meat, cheese, and veggies that you would like.  Top it with your favorite dressing and some fancy croutons.

Check out the Duck Creek’s Candle Company’s cupboard.  You can find two sizes of candles with many different scents, wax melts, and car fresheners!  The prices are reasonable and they smell delightful!

Here’s the update for the outside of the market….

We are soooo ready for planting season to get here!  Look for things to start coming in around the 3rd-4th week of April!  We will continue to add until we are bursting with color for Mother’s Day weekend!  Wahoo!

One of the most popular flower arrangements to buy is a hanging basket.  There are so many colors and varieties that make this an easy choice for anyone!  Here are a few tips from gardenersworld.com to keep your hanging baskets looking great all summer!  Water every day enough to soak the compost soil….even more than that if it’s windy or dry.  Fertilize once a week.  This will keep new growth coming.  Give your basket a haircut….when it starts to look leggy and spindly, use scissors to cut the bottom 25% off.  This allows the plant to focus its nutrients at the roots and new growth.

Do you have some neighborhood cats or maybe your own cat that you hope to keep out of your garden this year?  Here are a couple tips (also from gardenersworld).  Grow ground cover.  Cats prefer bare ground.  Also, cats don’t like scented plants, so consider planting one of these beauties: lavender, scaredy cat plant (coleus caninus), lemon balm, chives, rosemary and/or pennyroyal.  These heavily-scented plants can also deter wildlife for those of you who deal with foxes, deer, and rabbits.

Here’s the update for the inside of the market….

Huck’s will be closed tomorrow for the Easter holiday!

Monday will start our new hours at the main market for the rest of the year!

Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

Saturday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Sunday 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Just a reminder that we have said goodbye to soup until the Fall.  I love soup, but it’s nice to think that summer time is near!

Hot eggs from Walnut Creek have arrived, and they are good!  They are the perfect addition to a salad or as a snack!

We also have pretzel rods from Walnut Creek!  These crunchy pretzels have the perfect amount of salt.  Make one of our dip mixes or dip them in one of our many varieties of mustards and you have the perfect snack!

OUR FAMILY REVIEW of the Walnut Creek Pizza Sauce!  Jim made some homemade pizza last week for dinner.  When Jim and I were first married, Jim was the manager of Domino’s Pizza here in Marietta.  He actually won a regional pizza making contest, so everyone is excited when he wants to make pizza at home.  Anyway, he used the Walnut Creek Pizza Sauce for our pizza, and it was the best!  Here is what everyone said oldest to youngest….Jim said he feels like he’s in Italy, I said this is too good to be true, Cam said it is sweet and complements the crust well, Seth said, “Mama Mia Mama Mia” and that it is a sliver of heaven.  Audrey thinks it pairs perfectly with Ranch, and Little Syd says it’s nice and sweet.  Thanks, Jimmy for making supper!  Keep it up!

This week’s small business spotlight is Bracelets by Audrey.  Audrey started making bracelets almost two years ago.  She enjoys making them and choosing the colors and baubles to add.  We are so glad to be able to include her bracelets at Huck’s!

This week’s Employee spotlight is one of our newer workers.  Chrissy Vigneron started at Huck’s at the beginning of September and works at both locations.  She’s nice and fun, and I’ve known her since our days riding the bus in elementary school!
