I hope you all are doing well! We certainly haven’t had Spring weather this week! It’s been chilly and windy! Warm temps are on the horizon!

We had a wonderful and relaxing time last night making an Easter centerpiece. Last night was the night of sisters! We had a set of three sisters, and I got to spend the evening with my sis! Check out the fun in the pictures below!

Here is the update for outside!

We still have white and yellow onion sets for $1.99 lb.!

Flowers and plants will be here around the third week of April! If there is a plant or a particular color you are interested in planting or growing this year, please let us know! We will see if we can get what you are looking for!

Before long, it will be time to start looking around for ramps! The species name for ramps is Allium tricoccum, and there are lots of common names for it. It’s usually known as ramps or wild leeks, but some refer to it as wood leeks, ramsons, or wild garlic. The only time to find ramps is during the early days of Spring through the end of May. When temperatures warm up, the leaves of the ramps will yellow and die, so you have to get out there before it gets too warm. The Cherokee would dig up ramps by cutting off the bulb and leaving the roots. This would ensure the ramps would come back year after year. The first colonists were thrilled when it was time for ramps! After long, hard winters, they were happy to see the ramps pop up in the forests. This was the first vegetable they could eat after many months without fresh food.

Here’s what’s happening on the inside of the market….

Monday, April 1st, we will start our new hours at the main market!

Mamma Mia! We have added Walnut Creek Pizza Sauce to our shelves. This made from scratch, homestyle pizza sauce is perfect for your favorite pizza recipe. It’s got a little bit of brown sugar in it to add just a touch of sweetness to all your pizza toppings. All you need to do is spoon it on your crust, cover it with additional toppings and bake. Each jar contains enough sauce to fully cover two pizzas! Yum! I know what’s on my dinner menu this week!

Blue Heat Spices LLC is located in Whipple, Ohio. The owners grow their own peppers, dehydrate them, and turn them into delicious Devil’s Dust and Reaper’s Rust homemade spices. These can be added to just about anything that you want to give a little kick! They have actually planted more than double the plants they had last year, so that shows how popular their spices have become! We are happy to have Blue Heat Spices at Huck’s. You can find their spices on top of the deli. Take some time to look at their Facebook page, follow them, and like their page. Likes and follows mean a lot to all of us who own small businesses!

This week’s Employee spotlight is Molly Ketchum! Molly has worked for Huck’s for a year and a half. She’s sweet and fun, and we appreciate her!

SPRING CRAFT CLASSES!

Mom or Grandma Evening Out with a Little Loved One: Friday, May 3rd @ 6:00 p.m. at Putnam Street Location

This class is to celebrate Mother’s Day! Bring a little one and buttons if you collect them for an adorable button heart craft! This unique craft with buttons, lace, with a keepsake in a frame is one that you will be able to keep in your family to be passed down. Plus, to get to have an evening out with a special child that you love is something you can’t pass up! We haven’t figured out a price for this class yet. I know it will be cheaper if you have your own buttons to bring. There will also be a different price if you don’t bring a child.
