Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Tomorrow we will be celebrating all things Irish! Are you guys going to be making anything good? Jim loves corned beef and sauerkraut….so maybe I’ll make some corned beef sandwiches and some cabbage and pick up Shamrock Shakes at McDonald’s. Lol. Or maybe I want to really go all out and make Colcannon (mashed potatoes and cabbage mixed), Irish Coddle (a grab what you have stew with bacon, sausage, onions, potatoes and plenty of parsley and black pepper), or Shepherd’s pie (meat and veggies topped with mashed potatoes and baked to perfection). Food Network has lots of recipes to think about! …..Sydney is the most excited for the Leprechauns to come to the house. This year she’s determined to catch one, because Seth told her he caught one when he was younger. She’s made plans all week and is going to set traps at both our house and Granny’s house. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!
Our oldest, Cameron, turns 18 years old on Thursday. Wow! Happy Birthday, Cam! We love you so much! When you have a baby, you never think about them becoming adults…..WAAAHH! WAAAHH I know those of you with adult children know what I’m talking about. You’re so happy for them, but you’re also a little bit wistful for those days when they were little and toddling around.
Don’t forget to vote on Tuesday, March 19th! I’m thankful that all Americans 18 or older have the right to voice their own opinion by voting!
Here’s the update for downtown!
We will be closed today and next Saturday (3/23) at our Putnam Street location. Typically, a combination of the Goeller Family mans this location on Saturdays. The next two weeks we have baseball games, Bible Quizzing, and a choir contest on Saturdays. Thanks for understanding!
We had the best time at our first crafting class downtown. It’s the perfect place to spread out! Everyone loved what they made, and they all turned out perfectly! Mine is already on my front door! Check out the pictures below!
You can now order breakfast on hucksmarket.com! You can build your own breakfast sandwich for $3.99. This sandwich comes with a farm fresh egg and your choice of bread (white or wheat toast, English muffin, croissant, or bagel), meat (sausage, bacon, ham, or no meat), and cheese (cheddar, swiss, provolone, pepper jack, or marble). You can order some pancakes with your choice of breakfast meat for $6.99 or a breakfast meal with 2 eggs (any style), choice of breakfast meat, and choice of toast. There are not too many places around where you can get a homemade breakfast at a good price, so we hope you will try it the next time your belly is growling in the morning!
We are now starting fried bologna sandwiches! These are served on our freshly made sandwich buns. Nothing reminds you more of going to your grandparents’ house more than a fried bologna sandwich!
Next Friday we’ve got another craft class! A full description is down below! We hope you will join us!
Here’s the update for the outside of the market!
A big thank you to Tim for working on the landscaping around the sign! It’s looking great!
The first day of Spring is on Tuesday! Yay! We finally made it! In one month’s time, the market will start to flourish with healthy flowers and veggie plants!
The weather this time of year can be a little bit unpredictable, but when the day is warm, spending some time in the garden is fun! The green of Spring is the most beautiful shade, it’s bright and vibrant!
HGTV says the perfect time to start your garden clean up is after there have been seven days of 50-degree weather! Why 7 days? They say that it gives hibernating insects a chance to get warm, wake up, and move out of their winter habitats.
Here’s what’s happening inside the market…..
Easter is still two weeks away! Huck’s is taking orders for from scratch cakes! Choose from carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, chocolate cake with chocolate frosting shaped like a tomb, or a coconut bunny cake.
Fresh baked rolls would be a perfect addition to your Easter dinner. We have individual rolls that come in packs of 6. Pull apart pan rolls come in 10. Add some Walnut Creek rolled butter and one of our yummy jams of jellies, and you can’t go wrong!
It’s the time of year for hard boiled eggs! Huck’s has some tasty options! We have Mustard Eggs, Beet Eggs, and Jalapeño Eggs. We had a chance to taste the Hot Eggs at the Walnut Creek show, and they are yummy! Look for those soon!
Fagan’s Farm keeps us in supply of farm raised eggs whenever they have some available! We are thankful for them.
Speaking of the Walnut Creek Food Show, Jim and I had a great day. We got to see a lot of new things, sample things we had never tried before, and get some ideas for the market! You will start seeing some new items this week! I’ll be sure to highlight them as they come!
Soup is still on for a couple more weeks, so we better enjoy it while we get the chance! Here’s the schedule for this week:
Monday: Chicken Noodle and Bean Soup with Ham
Tuesday: Creamy Potato, Taco Soup
Wednesday: Stuffed Pepper and Minestrone
Thursday: Chicken Noodle, Grandma’s Tomato Soup
Friday: Cheesy Broccoli, Vegetable Soup
Flags, flags, and more flags! We have garden flags of all styles hanging up around the market. If you’re short like me, ask Jim to grab the one you want. He’s used to having to reach things up high for me. Lol.
Starting next week, I’m going to start highlighting our small business partners. I’ll do one a week, and I’m going to do it alphabetically! I’ll tell you all about their business and their products. Vendors, I’ll be getting in touch with you!
I’m going to do the same with our Huck’s employees! That way you can get to know all of us a little bit better! I am going to start with the big BOSS….Jim!
