“School’s out for summer!” I can’t help but sing the rock song by Alice Cooper! I know everyone is ready for a little R and R this summer! I’m looking forward to getting things cleaned out and organized around the house and spending some more time at Huck’s! I hope to get to see many of you there as well!

A couple of weekends ago, our 4-H group did one of our annual community service projects. We put new flags at the graves of local veterans at three local, rural cemeteries. We always start at the Lynch Church Cemetery, then we head out to Berg Church Cemetery, and lastly to St. Jacob’s Cemetery on Glendale Extension. This is one of our favorite service projects, and there are probably 120 military graves at just these three cemeteries!

Anyway….if you are looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon, head to the Berg Cemetery off of Reeds Run in Stanleyville. They open up the old church for visitors each Sunday through the summer! You can sign the visitor’s book and look at all the old hymnals and records from the church. The oldest ones are in German. German immigrants settled there in the mid-1800s. Barbara Gearhart Matt has even published books translating these early records. We thought it was really interesting! It would definitely be worth your while!

Here’s our outside update….

All live flowers and vegetable plants are 25% off starting today (Saturday)! Come out and see if you can find one more pretty plant for your porch or flower beds. Or maybe you want to do a few more tomato or herb plants in your left over pots.

Jay Huck is dropping off some more flowers tomorrow morning. I’m not sure everything that he has, but they will certainly be pretty! Plus, with the 25% discount, it’s a win-win situation!

Thanks for a great flower season! We weren’t sure what to expect with it being our first year, but we learned a lot and enjoyed it so much! It was a good starting point for us, and we hope to have more to offer in the years to come!

Check out the rooster my brother, Chad, refurbished for our front door area! He welded it back together and painted it red, yellow, and black. I think it looks great, Brother!

Here’s our weekly update about inside…..

A new shipment of local homegrown strawberries will be here today!

We are so excited to have a new vendor that will be at Huck’s starting later this week or next! We will now be selling local pasture raised chicken from Peck’s Farm in Waterford, Ohio! I have known Amber Peck for many years now. She is the President of the Farmer’s Market downtown, and she and her husband are great, hard-working people! Stop in and try a package! It will be in our walk in freezer to start, so you will just need to ask! We will have boneless breasts, thighs, wings, and chicken sausage (sweet and spicy and salt and pepper)!

Yoder’s Good Health Recipe Tonic has been re-ordered and will be in this week! If you haven’t tried this vinegar health concoction as part of your health regimen, you just might want to start! It’s slogan is “It puts some pep in your step!” Jim and I agree!

Our baked goods are baked fresh each morning by the best bakers around!

Have you seen our mini loaves of bread? This is a good solution to those of you who can’t eat an entire loaf of bread quick enough! They are cute and you get all the yummy goodness of a full loaf….just tinier!

Our Walnut Creek snack area is full! We got in some pretzel balls! A handful is the perfect crunchy snack if you are looking for something salty.

It sure has been hot outside, so don’t forget about our Velvet hand-dipped ice cream! We have been starting to sell tubs for birthdays and weddings, so keep that as an option for your upcoming celebrations!

Now that school is out, and I have a little more time, I’m going to be heading up to Columbus to get some crafts to spruce up the front of the store! Look for lots of new items later this week!

We have packaged up some Cucumber Dill Dip and French Onion Dip from Walnut Creek! You know it is good quality if it has their name! Mix it with a small tub of Walnut Creek sour cream from our dairy case (it will be in on Wednesday), and you have the perfect party or snack dip for veggies, pretzels, or chips! Yum!

If you notice a lot of thumbs up in my pictures this week, that is Little Syd giving her approval! Lol! She was following me around as I was taking pictures and sticking her thumb in, so we just went with it. As you will be able to see, she broke her arm the week before school let out, so we are praying for a speedy recovery!
