Hello! I hope you are looking forward to a nice weekend. Last night, I spent the night at the high school for a lock in with a great group of 7th and 8th graders and teachers. It was a great night with a mystery to solve, games, basketball, dodge ball, movies, an escape room, and pizza. A fun night overall, but I’m sleepy!

It’s almost time for the Day of LOVE……Valentine’s Day! It is just about one month away! We are now taking orders for chocolate covered strawberries. They are $24.99 a dozen. You can choose to have the strawberries dipped in dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate. You can also choose which kind of chocolate they are drizzled with! Yum! These would be the perfect sweet treat for your kids, grandkids, neighbors, coworkers, spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, or friend! We can take orders through February 13th!

Here’s our update for 114 Putnam Street! It’s been a busy time for Jim and me! We have been getting things ordered and moved, cleaning, making our menu, hiring employees, and getting a sign made! As of now, we are still on track for our January 22nd opening. We love our farm market so much, and this new location will be the perfect addition!

People have been asking if we will be doing lunch delivery downtown. Yes, we will!

We have also been getting quite a few inquiries wanting to know how our new puppy, Brownie, is doing. That’s so nice of you to ask! That little puppy is so fun! He is just a lovable, ball of fur. He has a chubby belly, and he is everyone’s best friend. We are enjoying him! I have a couple of pics of him down below!

Here’s our outside update…..

Now we are at 67 days until the beloved Spring!

The rose, as I’m sure you all know, is considered “The Queen of the Garden” and the most beautiful flower in the world. I would have to say that roses are my very favorite flower in a garden. They are so fragrant and Roses come in many varieties that rose specialists put into three categories: Old Garden Roses, Wild Roses, and Modern Garden Roses. Old Garden Roses have been around before 1867. These hardy roses are disease resistant, but they only bloom once a year. These are the most fragrant of roses, particularly those with the double flower bloom. Wild roses are almost usually pink. These have a single bloom with five petals. If you find a yellow wild rose, you should play the lottery, because it is extremely uncommon! Modern Garden Roses were bred after 1867. These roses bloom continuously, have a longer vase life, and have a larger bloom. These are less hardy, less fragrant, and are prone to disease. What is your favorite type of rose?

Better get ready for some bitter cold temperatures this coming week! Looks like there may be some snow dispersed throughout the week as well! I think

Our products from Forever Caroline are so unique and well made. They feature the artwork of 7 different Appalachian artists. I love that they capture the feel of the wonderful area in which we live. They offer notecards, notepads, fabric products like bags and aprons, love notes, recipe cards, and gift sets. If you go into Huck’s, they are in the cupboard to the left of the front door. The owner of Forever Caroline, Julie, lives right here in Marietta, and we are happy to have her at Huck’s!

Want to know what makes Duck Creek Candles unique? This is why!

We often get asked, “What makes your candles different than all the other candle choices?”……. To start, we only use 100% American Soy Wax. No blend, pure soy to give a slow, clean burning candle or melt. But that’s not all, we only use high quality, clean label fragrances and blend them by hand with the maximum amount for the strongest scent. Yep, every product is blended & poured by hand. It takes a little longer but we believe it’s worth it in the end. Also, there’s no lead or zinc in any of our wicks, just cotton weaved with a little paper. And then we let each candle & melt cure for a minimum of 14 days to maximize the scent……From the start & still to this day we just wanted to make the highest quality products that people would love and we’ve found that requires the extra steps.

New Craft Classes are being planned and will be posted soon! We are going to get 114 Putnam Street up and running first, and then we will have time to get our craft classes back on schedule!
